Monika Leskovar
Rostropovič, B. Greenhouse, L. Parnas, E. Schoenfeld, M.
Flaksman, D. Grigorjan, D. Muller, S. Sondeckiene, J.
Ghuchro i drugi. Poslijediplomski studij završila je u
berlinskoj klasi znamenitog čelista, koncertanta i pedagoga
Davida Geringasa, te postala i njegova asistentica na "Hanns
Eisler" glazbenoj akademiji, a tijekom osmogodišnjeg
svirala solistički i u suradnji s najpoznatijim svjetskim
Sinajski, A. Buribajev, V. Gergijev, M. Turnowsky, J. Wildner, M. Horvat, P. Dešpalj, V. Šutej i M. Letonja...
Julian Rachlin, Itamar Golan,
Sofija Gubajdulina, Nikolaj Znajder, Tabea Zimmermann, Mario
Brunello itd.
dokumentarnih filmova. Premda je svoja najdraža priznanja i
nagrade primila iz ruku legendarnih guslača Yehudija
Menuhina i Mstislava Rostropoviča, Monika s radošću ističe
Zagreb i Orkestar Zagrebačke filharmonije. Glazbeni izričaj
Monike Leskovar odlikuje zbroj uvjerljivih umjetničkih
kvaliteta: superiorna tehnička sprema i začudna tonska
maštovitost, studiozna utemeljenost njezinih interpretacija
i naoko improvizacijsko nadahnuće trenutkom. U njezinu
jednostavnome i vrlo logičnome muziciranju na očaravajući se
način isprepliću djetinje prostodušan polet i ona tako
rijetka analitička strastvenost duha, svojstvena samo zrelim
i velikim umjetnicima.
Monika Leskovar
- violoncello (Kreutztal, 1981), first she was a student of
Elly Basic Music School in Zagreb (class of Dobrila Berkovic-Magdalenic),
later disciple of Valter Despalj, and continued her
education at master courses given by M. Rostropovich, B.
Greenhouse, L. Parnas, E. Schoenfeld, M. Flaksman, D.
Grigorjan, D. Miiller, S. Sondeckiene, J. Chuchro and others.
Leskovar completed her postgraduate studies in the class of
the famous Berlin cello player, concert performer and
teacher David Geringas, and later became his assistant at "Hanns
Eisler" Music Academy. During her eight-year schooling in
Germany (Liibeck and Berlin) she won at several famous
international cello competitions. She played in many
countries all over the world both as a soloists and together
with the most famous world orchestras conducted by K. Ono,
V. Sinajski, A. Buribajev, V. Gergijev, M. Turnowsky, J.
Wildner, M. Horvat, P. Despalj, V. Sutej, M. Letonja,...
Leskovar recorded three CDs with 19* and 20lh century
repertoire and was an inspiration for directors V. Majerovic,
Z. Berkovic and P. Krelja to produce documentary films about
her. Although she has received favored honors and awards
from the hands of legendary string players Yehudi Menuhin
and Mstislav Rostropovich, Monika emphasizes with joy that
her greatest award was the Neapolitan cello Vincenzo
Postiglione from 1884, which was presented to ht?r by the
City of Zagreb and the Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra. Her
unique way of playing is characterized by a sum of supreme
artistic qualities: superior technique and amazing tonal
imagination, studiously based interpretations and seemingly
instantaneous improvisation. In her deceptively simple and
very logical performance, naive childlike zest and rare
analytical passion of spirit, which only mature and great
artists possess, are enchantingly intertwined.
Giovanni Sollima
(1962. Palermo). Talijanski skladatelj orkestralnih i
Bashmet, pijanist Bruno Canino, gitarist Larry Corvell,
violinist Gidon Kremer, dirigent Riccardo Muti... Njegove
radove naručuju i poznate kazališne kuće Teatro alla Scala
iz Milana, Teatro Massimo iz Palerma, Venecijanski biennale...
Kao violončelist često svira vlastitu glazbu, kao i glazbu
poznatih živućih skladatelja, a surađivao je s dirigentima
Claudiom Abbadom i Giuseppe Sinopoliem, te pijanistima Marta
Argerich i Jorg Demus, medu ostalima, a 1995. Sollima je
osnovao i vlastiti komorni sastav kojemu je violončelist i
voditelj. Sollimina glazba odiše minimalizmom, a njegove
kompozicije često karakteriziraju modalne melodije i
repetitivnc strukture. Budući da njegov rad karakterizira
raznolikiji i eklektičniji pristup materijalu od ranih
američkih minimalističkih skladatelja, američki kritičar
Kvle Gann nazvao je Sollimu post-minimalističkim
skladateljem. Sollima je surađivao s američkom pjesnikinjom
i glazbenicom Patti Smith, a pojavljuje se i na njenim
snimkama i u živo na koncertima.
Giovanni Sollima (1962, Palermo). Italian composer of
mostly stage, orchestral and chamber works that have been
performed throughout the world; he is also active as a
cellist. Giovanni Sollima is the son of the composer
Eliodoro Sollima (1926 - 2000). He studied cello with
Giovanni Perriera and composition with his father at the
Conservatorio di Palermo from 1973-80. He also studied cello
with Antonio Janigro at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart and
Salzburg Mozarteum from 1980-85 and composition with Milko
Kelemen at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart from 1980-84.
Among his honors are an Interforum Prize for cello in
Budapest (1981) and First Prize at the International Jazz
Meeting in Messina (1984). Violist Yuri Bashmet, pianist
Bruno Canino, guitarist Larry Coryell, violinist Gidon
Kremer, and conductor Riccardo Muti are among the performers
who have commissioned and performed his works, which have
also been commissioned by the Teatro alia Scala in Milan,
the Teatro Massimo in Palermo and the Venice Biennale.
As a cellist, he has often played his own music and works by
other living composers and has worked with the conductors
Claudio Abbado and Giuseppe Sinopoli and pianists Martha
Argerich and Jorg Demus, among others. He founded the
Giovanni Sollima Band in 1995 and has since served as its
cellist and director.
Sollima's music is influenced by minimalism, with his
compositions often featuring modal melodies and repetitive
structures. Since his works are characterized by a more
diverse and eclectic approach to material than the early
American minimalist composers, American critic Kyle Gann has
marked Sollima as a post-minimalist composer. Sollima has
cooperated with the American poet and musician Patti Smith,
appearing on her records and performing with her at concerts.
Varaždinski komorni
orkestar (1994) nastavlja višegodišnju tradiciju
komornog i orkestralnog muziciranja u Varaždinu, osobito
jaku pedesetih i šezdesetih godina prošlog stoljeća.
članaka najuglednijih zagrebačkih orkestara i pedagoga
varaždinske glazbene škole. Kapitalna djelatnost orkestra
Orkestar ujedno nastupa diljem Hrvatsku i
u inozemstvu.
Uz, to orkestar je snimio i tri CD-a s maestrom Pavlom
Dešpaljem: Serenade Dvoraka i Suka (1998), Nokturno (2001) i
Souvenir i Serenada (2005). U povodu desete obljetnice
orkestra, izdana je monografija "Varaždinski komorni
orkestar (1994-2004)" s prigodnim CD-om na kojemu su
fragmenti izvedaba sa koncerata u tom razdoblju.
Iako vrlo često nastupa i bez dirigenta, orkestar surađuje s
brojnim uglednim dirigentskim imenima; Pavle Dešpalj (ujedno
i počasni član orkestra), Milan Horvat, Kazushi Ono, Marko
Letonja, Vjekoslav Šutej, Uroš Lajovic, Vladimir Kranjjčević,
Mladen Tarbuk, Ivo Lipanović, Zoran Juranić, Ivan Repušić...
Uz orkestar kao solisti nastupaju eminentni instrumentalisti
i pjevači, poput: Ruže Pospiš – Baldani, Dubravke Tomšić –
Srebotnjak, Dunje Vejzović, Višnje Mažuran, Monike Leskovar,
Karmen Pečar, Renate Pokupić, Radovana Vlatkovića, Davida
Geringasa, Valtera Dešpalja
, Dore Schwarzberg, Branimira Slokara, Petera Soavea, Stanka
Arnolda, Ištvana Romera, Lovre Pogorelića,…
Uz stalnog koncertmajstora (Jože Haluza) Orkestar često
anganžira i goste-koncertmajstore: Leon Spierer, Catherine
Mackintosh, Taras Pečeny, Tamara Smirnova, Aleksandar Ivić,
Boro Martinić, Mario Korunić, Latica Honda-Rosenberg.
Orkestar je dobitnik nagrade Varaždinskih baroknih večeri
„Ivan Lukačić“ nagrade HDGU-a „Milka Trnina“ kao i Plakate
komornog ansambla.
Varaždin Chamber
Orchestra (1994) continues the long tradition of chamber
and orchestra playing in Varaždin, tradition that was
especially strong in the 50s and 60s of the last century.
Varaždin did not have its own orchestra ensemble for thirty
years and it was only in the independent Croatia that it
finally realized the idea about orchestra as special and
permanent factor of the cultural life of the city. It is
through the merit of many citizens of Varaždin, especially
professional wind players who were members of the most
prestigious Zagreb orchestras and teachers at the Varaždin
Music School. The capital activity of the Orchestra is a
cycle of five premiere concerts in Croatian National Theater
in Varaždin, in its concert hall, as well as regular
participation at Varaždin Baroque Evenings. The Orchestra
performs throughout Croatian and abroad. The Orchestra
recorded three CDs with the Maestro Pavle Dešpalj: Dvorak /
Suk Serenades for strings (1998), Nocturne (2001) and
Souvenir and Serenade (2005). "Varaždin Chamber Orchestra"
monograph was published for the occasion of the 10th
anniversary (1994-2004) together with a CD containing
fragments of the music performed in that
period. Although it very often performs without a conductor
the Orchestra has cooperated with many distinguished names:
Pavle Dešpalj (an honorable member of the Orchestra), Milan
Horvat, Kzushi Ono, Marko Letonja, Vjekoslav Šutej, Uroš
Lajovic, Vladimir Kranjčević, Mladen Tarbuk, lvo Lipanović,
Zoran Juranić, Ivan Repušić... There have been many eminent
instrument players and singers performing together with the
Orchestra as soloists like: Ruža Pospiš-Baldani, Dubravka
Tomšić-Srebotnjak, Dunaj Vejzović, Višnja Mažuran, Monika
Leskovar, Karmen Pecar, Renata Pokupić, Radovan Vlatković,
David Geringas, Valter Dešpalj, Dora Schwarzberg, Branimir
Slokar, Peter Soave, Stanko Arnold, Ištvan Romer, Lovro
Pogorelić... Besides the permanent concertmaster (Joža
Haluža) the Orchestra very often contracts guest-concertmasters:
Leon Spierer, Catherine Mackintosh, Taras Pečeny, Tamara
Smirnova, Aleksandar Ivić, Boro Martinić, Mario Korunić,
Latica Honda-Rosenberg.
The Orchestra was awarded "Ivan Lukačić" Varaždin Baroque
Evening, "Milka Trnina" by Croatian Music Artists Society
and Plaque of the City of Varaždin. In 2006, at Dubrovnik
Summer Festival, the Orchestra received the Orlando award,
and at Varaždin Baroque Evenings it received the best
soloist, conductor and chamber orchestra interpretation
award "Jurica Murai".
