Nikola
Vučemilović fis a photographer who, according the words of Želimir
Koščević, “could sense the spirit of his time and potential of media he
used far from the headlights of photo happenings”. Some forty
photographs taken in 1956 in the International Ballet School of Ana Roje
and Oskar Harmoš in Kaštel Kambelovac have been chosen from his wide and
interesting work for this exhibition. It is a unique opportunity, given
to us through powerful and suggestive photographs of a remarkable
photographer, to remind us of the times when one of the biggest dancers
drew her birth place into the world ballet map. Nikola Vučemilović was
born in Makarska in 192 , and has been a photographer since 1939. He
participated in the Liberation War in 1943 as a war photographer. He had
numerous shows in all continents. He was awarded at many international
photo exhibitions. Member of Federation of International Art Photography
since 196 1, Split Photo Club, honorable member of North American Club
of Sacramento California USA. His works are exhibited in galleries in
Australia and the USA. Lives and works in Split. |
