“This post-modern strategy feeds itself by unstable fields of consumer culture, using the marginal and the split in social codes. Like an ironic side of kitsch it signalizes the slide sites of contemporariness, instability of values and norms. By exaggeration and saturation esthetics, at the same time seductive and bizarre, attractive and peculiar, coquette and obscure. Wrapped in sensual and obsessive energy, intuition and ludism of female sensuality”, wrote Ksenija Orelj about Overload, latest work of Emilija Duparov that will be presented to the art public in her birth town.

Emilija Duparova was born in Split in 196 7. She graduated at Zagreb Art Academy in the class of Professor Zlatko Kauzlarić Atač. Besides painting she works on multimedia projects, ambience, installations, photography and video. She participates in organization of public cultural projects and theatre scenarios as a research assistant in Zagreb, Split, Osijek and Rijeka. Since 2002 she has been the author of ambience design for numerous important events in Rijeka and Opatija. She has had 22 solo shows and many group shows in Croatia and abroad and was given numerous international and national awards.
